Event for our OAPs

A BUMPER event to celebrate older people is taking place at Selby Town Hall on Monday (October 1).

Selby District Over 50s Forum is inviting anyone aged over 50, and their carers, along to mark the international Older People’s Day.

Starting at 1.30pm, there will be entertainment, a showing of the film The Plank, bingo, plate tea, stalls and free raffle. Doors will open at 1pm when Selby mayor Coun George Carter will officially open the event, and tea will be served at 4pm.

Don Davies, chairman of the Over 50s Forum, said: “It’s all free and it’s free to get in. We have also got pupils from Selby High School providing music and students from Selby College serving meals.”

Tickets are available at the town hall or from Age UK on Micklegate, Selby.
