Howden and Snaith butchers take a slice of fame at Yorkshire awards
Champion butcher Anna Longthorp.
TWO local butchers are in the spotlight after scooping Champion titles at the BPEX regional roadshow and product evaluation event.
Held at the Great Yorkshire Showground in Harrogate, the event was attended by 60 butchers and farm shops from across Yorkshire and the North East who, between them, submitted 300 products for evaluation across 12 categories by a panel of expert judges.
And Anna’s Happy Trotters, of Howden, and J and M Rowlands Family Butchers, of Snaith, both walked away with top prizes.
Anna Longthorp, who breeds free range and outdoor pigs, fought off stiff competition in the Home Cured Gammon and Speciality Cold Eating Pie categories to walk away with one of the prized champion titles with her Traditional Dry Cured Gammon Steak, as well as two gold and silver awards.
Meanwhile, John and Michelle Rowlands won the Speciality Pork Product category with their pork filled parcels.
