A SUPPORT group for the elderly in Sherburn has been knitting the community together with blankets.
Members of the Sherburn Visiting Scheme made 17 blankets and donated them to Hilltop Manor care home in the village.
Delighted residents from the home received them last week after being invited to the Lady Popplewell Centre in Sherburn where the Sherburn Visiting Scheme meets.
Claire Buckle, one of the owners of Hilltop Manor, said: “It was a lovely gesture and they are something that the residents will all definitely make use of.”
She added: “We took some of the residents down to the centre to get them and they had a really nice time.”
Susan Auders, of the Sherburn Visiting Scheme, said: “Our members feel that they are knitting the community together.”
Sherburn Visiting Scheme supports elderly people so they can remain in their own homes. The scheme provides meals on wheels, a weekly luncheon, medical transport, numerous outings, and social afternoons.
