Refurbish homes not demolish

THE present New Labour government, even after almost 13 years in office, has failed to build council houses.

This responsibility has been taken up by the private sector and housing associations.

The government has, of course, increased regulation and control on these bed-sits, flats and houses.

May I suggest that Richard Cooper Street and Phoenix Street in Goole, be refurbished and let by ERYC at low rent to those who need council housing.

I should like to know how much of tax-payers money has been spent so far on compulsory purchase, legal fees and wages and salaries.

What are the views of people who live in Goole and have an interest in the town?
