SPORTY Katie Owen from Rawmarsh enlisted the help of top local sportsmen, to lift off her charity campaign.

Katie, who manages the Sports Direct store at Parkgate Shopping, aims to raise the highest sum possible for Sport Relief.

With the help of Titans players Ross Noonan (pictured left) and Jamie Kilbane, she got off to a good start.

Katie said: “I’ve already had a terrific response from my colleagues, who will be cropping up all over the town with buckets and smiling faces over the next few weeks”.

She added: “To raise even more money, from February 11 we’ll be selling £1 raffle tickets, and anyone who buys a shirt will receive a free ticket. Prizes on offer including £25 Sports Direct gift cards, match packages for Rotherham United at the new stadium, match tickets and signed programmes from Rotherham Titans, shirts signed by the players and shopping vouchers from Parkgate stores”.

A family fun evening will take place outside the store from 5.30-7pm on March 22, when the public will mingle with players from the rugby and football teams plus other local celebrities, all free of charge.

The limited edition Sport Relief t-shirts are priced £6 at Parkgate’s Sports Direct, with at least £4 of each t-shirt sale to go to Sport Relief.
