ROADWORKS: Roadworks in 1920 York Road.

NO SIGN of work starting on the A63/A19 new roundabout at Barlby as of November 4.

I understand when work gets underway some traffic will be diverted through the village of Cliffe by way of York Road at some stage of the construction?

So here’s a picture of York Road Cliffe, circa 1920.

A lot has changed over the years since then, the road has been widened speed bumps have been installed, and the beech trees are no more.

But then that’s progress. Time and traffic wait for no man. This once tranquil scene will see more than the usual traffic for a few months I understand.
