TV stardom for Harry
Harry Cowley, 15, choir member at Goole Parish Church, St John the Evangelist, is gearing up for his second TV appearance in two months.
A YOUNG CHOIR member at Goole Parish Church is gearing up for his second TV appearance in two months.
In November, 15-year-old Harry Cowley, appeared on ITV’s ‘Lorraine’, singing with top ten album trio The Soldiers. The choir from Harry’s school, The Duke of Yorks
Royal Military School, were backing the troops as they performed ‘The Living Years’.
This week the school choir will also be recording a performance for the Military Awards, which will be shown on ITV on December 14.
Harry has been a member of the choir at St Johns Church for over five years and has now progressed from a boy treble to the tenor section. He has also learnt to ring the Bells at St John’s and Howden Minster, and in school holidays can sometimes be heard playing the piano before the Sunday morning service.
Harry said of his first TV appearance: “The studio is small so we had to rehearse during the commercial breaks as the breakfast show was still being transmitted live. It was a real thrill to sing knowing it was being transmitted live.”
