Woman injured in Sherburn-in-Elmet crash

A 50-YEAR-OLD woman was airlifted to hospital this morning after a car careered off the road and flipped onto its roof.

The injured passenger was travelling in a green Rover car when it crashed into a ditch at 9am today (Friday January 27) on the A162 between Towton and Tadcaster.

She was taken to Leeds General Infirmary with what were described as serious injuries.

The driver, a 41-year-old from Tadcaster, suffered minor injuries. No other vehicles were involved.

The road was closed for several hours before it re-opened at noon.
