REGARDING David Davis's resignation, there has always been a split – Cameron and Davis are fundamental opposites.
Davis is pulling off a rather silly publicity stunt, which can only damage us within the party and most certainly in the perception the public have of us.
Where does he find his arrogance to announce that he will be standing again?
He has resigned
and would need to be re-selected.
Will the members of the party and constituents of Howden and Haltemprice actually want him again?
I have my doubts. Especially in view of the fact that we are now in the unfortunate position of wasting an enormous amount of money on a by-election which nobody wants or needs.
Our constituents are groaning under the tax burden, ever-rising petrol and food prices.
How are we going to explain to the electorate this total waste of tax payers' funds?
This rather silly and childish exercise in democracy, to bolster the ego of this politician, is, to say the least, spurious.
Personally, I would have thought that Davis and the party "mandarins" could have come up with a less cynical and potentially very expensive exit strategy out of his political life.
Go he had to, before he was pushed. Or was he?
