LIVING in Goole you cannot help noticing that many of our streets are named after people.
The origins of some are obvious, for example - Poets Corner.
But what about Frederick, Cecil, Hilda, Henry, Amy, Adeline, Elsie and Gordon?
Who were they and what did they achieve to have streets named after them?

The organisers of the local lottery could make a fortune if occasionally their first prize was to name a street after the winning ticket holder.
I'd buy a ticket, several in fact. I can see it now - Paul Thompson Street.
A row of terraced houses with a pub at either end, a gents barbers and a betting shop in the middle - marvellous.
