A VOLUNTEER with the Friends of Sandall Park has been named young ambassador of the year at the annual Keep Britain Tidy Network conference.

Marshall Barclay, aged 22, who has autism and learning difficulties, was honoured for his commitment to transforming a derelict, overgrown patch in the park into a beautiful flowerbed, now known as ‘Marshall’s Garden’.

He has spent hundreds of hours over the past year transforming the land close to the entrance of the park with planting designed to increase the biodiversity of the area and encourage wildlife.
