Prepare for a hood time!

GET ready for an energetic night out with Robin Hood and his merry men as tongue in cheek theatre company, Oddsocks, shape up the traditional tale of The Adventures of Robin Hood and perform with gusto in their 50th tour at The Joseph Rowntree Theatre in York in January.

This heart-warming legend has everything you need for a great adventure with daring deeds, an evil villain who needs teaching a lesson and of course a love story to set the pulse racing.

All the well-known characters will be there along with Robin and Marion, Little John, Friar Tuck and the dastardly devious Sheriff of Nottingham – a baddy who’s not averse to squeezing the last ounce of tax out of his honest peasant folk.

Bring the whole family and be prepared for laughter, fantastic live music written by BBC Radio 2 award winner Lucy Ward and lots of action too. Expect the unexpected with visually stunning effects, stunts, audience participation and a little slapstick thrown in for good measure.

Oddsocks is celebrating their 50th tour with this production and is well known and much loved in Yorkshire for their irreverent lunacy, regularly performing Shakespeare at York Museum Gardens, Gisborough Priory and Harrogate International Festival in the summer and the bard and other classics in the winter in rip roaring pantomime style. The show is directed and written by Oddsocks Director Andy Barrow who also stars as the evil Sheriff of Nottingham.

The cast also includes Oddsocks regulars Kevin Kemp, last seen as Hamlet, as Robin Hood, Andy McGillan (last winter’s Falstaff) as Friar Tuck and Joseph Maudsley (Mark Anthony in Julius Caesar) as Little John. Oddsocks newcomer Louise Farrant playing Maid Marion makes up the team.

Tickets are priced £15 (adults), £12 (concession) and £10 (under 16) or alternatively get a family ticket for £40. For more info and tickets ring Oddsocks on 01332 258328 or go online at www.oddsocks.co.uk/theatre.

The performance takes place on January 12, 2013.
