GLOBETROTTING entertainer and journalist Andy Kershaw’s next adventure is a trip to Goole on February 17.

The acclaimed and enduring broadcaster and journalist is visiting The Junction to present The Adventures of Andy Kershaw, an evening of hair raising escapades and humorous anecdotes taken from his life spent globetrotting and as a DJ.

The current tour follows the release of Kershaw’s 2011 autobiography, No Off Switch, highly acclaimed by Stephen Fry, who said of it: “Throughout this dizzyingly paced and often wildly hilarious book he brings alive his matchless career and the cultural life of a Britain that seems to be vanishing…read No Off Switch and learn what it is to be a real broadcast journalist, a real achiever. A real someone.”

Andy Kershaw (pictured) truly has no off switch. As a teenager, he was promoting major rock gigs. He was Billy Bragg’s driver and roadie one day and presenting Whistle Test and Live Aid the next. A born rebel and a maverick, he’s combined his passion for music with a curiosity and an instinct for frontline journalism, reporting for the BBC and the broadsheets from the world’s most extreme countries – Iraq, North Korea, Haiti, Angola and Rwanda during the genocide.

His energy is boundless as he takes his listeners and readers with him around the globe, delving deep into the hidden stories of the places he visits and tuning in to the issues that affect both the common man and the political hierarchy.

He is also among the UK’s most-decorated broadcasters, working for Radio 3, Radio 4 and as a Radio 1 DJ, where he shared an office with John Peel and legendary producer John Walters.

The evening’s entertainment starts at 8pm. Tickets are £15 with £13 concessions and are available from.junctiongoole.co.uk or from the box office on 01405 763652.

To win a pair of free tickets to the show answer the following question and send your answer, marked Andy Kershaw competition and including your name adress and daytime tel number, to the Goole Courier,
