One Direction but many celebrations for pals

IT was number One Direction for delighted friends of family of Doncaster’s best known 21st century pop star.

Louis Tomlinson’s family gathered at his childhood home in Bessacarr to celebrate as it was announced X Factor group One Direction had made it to number one in the main chart, with the song What Makes You Beautiful.

It was the latest success for the group, which had already made the download chart number one.

Meanwhile, the singer’s former school pal Stan Lucas joined him in London for the bands celebrations.

He said: “They are all normal lads, and that is why they get on so well.

“On Sunday night we all went to a restaurant we used to go to when they were on the X Factor for some grub, and then went back to band member Zane’s for some drinks. I don’t remember when we finished.”

Radio One had to move its chart show for the safety of the group’s fans on Sunday night. Hundreds of fans gathered to see the group, who were guests.

A statement from Radio One said: “Radio One and the police felt it was safer for the young listeners as well as the band if the interview was moved to a secret location.”

The band apologised to those fans who had waited.

Hundreds of teenage fans waited outside BBC studios at Great Portland Street in central London hoping to catch a glimpse of the band.

The interview with host Reggie Yates went ahead in an alternative location.

One Direction scored 2011’s fastest selling single of the year so far with What Makes You Beautiful.

It sold 153,000 copies within a week of being released.

Their debut album is due for release before Christmas.

Meanwhile, tabloids have reported Louis is dating model and student Eleanor Calder.
