Ready to rock
REHEARSALS are gearing up in schools in the Courier area whose pupils are ready to take up the annual Humberside Police Rock Challenge.
They are getting ready to take part in showcase events, to be held at Hull Arena and Bridlington Spa in April and May.
Local police officers are working with schools to promote the ethos of achieving a natural drug-free high through performance and raising awareness of the dangers of drugs, alcohol and tobacco.
Howden School and Technology College is one of 44 participating schools around the county where students have been busy rehearsing since September in preparation for the events.
Thanks to the success of the competition the organisers have teamed up with East Riding Council to bring an additional East Riding Junior Rock Challenge event to the area.
As sister project to Lifestyle, the Rock Challenge scheme focuses upon building essential life skills, including teamwork, problem solving, leadership and communication skills.
More sponsors are invited to support the scheme and anyone interested is asked to contact 01482 220701.
