VIDEO: Up Close and Personal with Peter Andre
HEY Presto! Pop wizard Peter Andre has got fans under his spell in concert thanks to new tricks from the team behind street magician Dynamo, writes Graham Walker.
The Mysterious Girl hitmaker appears in the crowd when moments earlier he is centre stage.
In an exclusive video chat with The Star, backstage at Sheffield City Hall, the 39-year-old revealed how he loves to see the shock on the faces of fans when they realise it’s him singing right next to them.
It’s a case of the tour, of theatres and arenas, really living up to its name of Up Close and Personal.

“There’ve been some incredible reactions. It’s amazing. I was only on stage a second ago. They turn around and there I am – it’s the funniest thing,’’ he laughed.
“We’ve worked with the guys behind Dynamo. They’ve shown me some illusions and tricks. To me it’s all about giving people an entertaining evening – as opposed to having to know all the songs.
“A lot of people who come might only know Mysterious Girl, so you’ve got to give them two hours of pure entertainment.
“It’s a great, great show. It’s a lot of fun and for me the ultimate job is definitely being on stage.
“Doing TV and making albums is great fun, but the most fun is being on stage.”
The 31-date tour includes his hits, tracks from latest chart album Angels and Demons, plus John Lennon and Bob Marley covers.
Fans who missed the lights and dance spectacular in Sheffield can catch the show on national tour - including final shows at O2 Academy Leeds, on Friday, January 18, then Doncaster Dome, on Saturday, January 19.
Support acts are X Factor boy band The Risk and singer songwriter Sam Gray. * Tickets for Doncaster are from £28.50 to £75. Bouy in person, call the Box Office on 01302 370777 or book on line at www.the-dome.co.uk.
