ARTISTS in Elmet gathered for a paint along session with oils under the tuition of Olive Simmonds.
Jim Humphries, secretary of Elmet Art Society, said the specialist sessions were always well attended. Aritsts were asked to create a snow scene in oils under the guidance of Olive.
Mr Humphries said: “They are always very enjoyable events. The class is a very sociable group. There is no pressure or stress.
“It’s a bit of fun but at the same time they produce a painting.” Very often the paintings produced in the specialist sessions form part of artists’ portfolios in their art society exhibitions.
Mr Humphries said: “People learn from each other. You find that when they are in a group they bounce ideas and techniques around and they are inspired and helped along.”
The successful art society, which has only been running three and a half years, has 36 members whose ages range from their early twenties to early eighties.
