PARTY in the park and help raise money for the Goole Campaign For Heroes.
The Swinefleet-based scheme, which sends aid to British troops on the front line in Iraq and Afghanistan, has teamed up with Fake Festivals and Goole Town Council and is organising an all-day music event at West Park on Saturday August 16, 1-11pm.
Included in the line up will be some of the country's best tribute bands, along with some local talent too.
Campaign co-founder Darren Smith said: "This is the first of two events we are holding this year.
"The festival is a chance for everyone in the Goole area regardless of age to enjoy some of the best tribute bands in the country whilst supporting our brave military serving on the frontlines.
"It is aimed at people of all ages and families. It should be a really great day out so please come and support it.
"For too long the West Park, which in itself is a credit to the town, has sat forgotten and unused by families, if this event is a success hopefully more events of this type will be organised for the people of Goole to enjoy.
"Every precaution has been taken to ensure that the people living around the park will not be disturbed during the festival."
On Friday August 29, a dinner and dance has been organised at the Vikings Hotel which will include an auction of 'money cannot buy' items, hosted by Screeton's Auctioneers.
Kerry Smith, campaign co-founder, said: "The event is going to be a night to remember.
"We have had support from the most amazing people, only last week boxing legend Sir Henry Cooper rung to say he was signing some boxing gloves for us, and this week both Darren and I were invited to the KC Stadium in Hull to be presented a signed shirt by Hull FC to be auctioned on the night.
"We have had so many different donations already I think there will be something for everyone's tastes including spa days, flights, paint balling days and £100 gift vouchers from top high street clothes stores to name but a few."
The night will consist of a four course meal and live music and entertainment.
Campaign patron, England rugby's Jamie Noon will be present if his training schedule permits as will members of Her Majesty's Coldstream Guards who have just returned from a seven month tour in Afghanistan's notorious Helmand Province.
Tickets for both events will be on sale shortly.
Any local businesses that would like to get involved either by sponsoring either event, or donating a raffle prize or auction lot should phone 01405 704893 or email gooleheroes@aol.com
