A BUILDER suffered a broken back after a wooden roof truss fell on him last week.
The incident happened on Friday at 11.14am at a site on Newclose Lane in Goole and was attended by the town's fire service.

Officers were called to the plot where a house is being built after a wooden roof truss fell on the man as he worked.

A spokesman said: "We were called to assist the ambulance staff to remove a casualty from the roof using a short extension ladder and working at heights gear.

"We had to fasten him to a stretcher to immobilise him and get him down. We had to put two ladders up to stop further injury to his spine," he explained.

"Two firefighters went up to lower him down horizontally."

The casualty was taken by ambulance to Scunthorpe General Hospital where tests were carried out before he was air lifted to Hull Royal Infirmary where it was confirmed that he had cracked bones in his spine.
