UPTO 300 tonnes of soil improver are to be given away to residents to mark Compost Awareness Week from May 4-10.
This is the fifth year East Riding of Yorkshire Council has shared out soil improver made from green waste collected at all ten of its household and waste recycling sites.

Among the six venues earmarked for the giveaway is Wesley Square car park in Goole on May 8 from 4-7pm.

Residents should take their own bags, up to three. The added bonus is that a team of workers will be on hand to do the digging and filling.

ERYC's portfolio holder for the environment Councillor Symon Fraser said: "The compost giveaways are very popular and are a great opportunity to get your hands on some free garden conditioner.

"They are also an opportunity to see what sort of end product to expect from the trialled brown bin collections."
