IMPORTANT changes to the times and numbers of visitors allowed per patient at all hospitals operated by the Northern Lincolnshire and Goole Hospitals NHS Trust have been made.
From May 1, is only allowed between 2-4pm and from 6.30-8pm, and will be limited to two people only.

Only in special circustances will visitors be allowed outside these times, and in more than twos. Permission of the ward manager/nurse or midwife in charge must be sought.

Director of Nursing Peter Flood explained the reasons for the changes: "Firstly a constant flow of visitors can be extremely tiring for patients, who - apart from expectant and new mothers - it is important to remember are already ill and therefore prone to tiredness more quickly.

"It can also interfere with the care and treatment offered to a patient.

"Secondly, the more people that come onto the ward the greater the chance of infection.

"Patients are more likely to have reduced immune systems and therefore are more likely to pick these up," he added.
