PARKSIDE Primary and Tesco Distribution Centre finished runners-up in the East Riding of Yorkshire Council chairman's awards ceremony.
People and organisations who have contributed to the built heritage, economy, environment and social well-being were recognised a week last Tuesday.

The ceremony is held annually by the ERYC, and was hosted by chairman, councillor Barbara Jefferson and television personality Clare Frisby, at the Ramada Jarvis Hotel, Willerby.

Tesco Distribution Centre based at Capitol Park near the M62 motorway finished second in the economy category for businesses with more than 51 employees; while Parkside Primary were joint runners-up in the Tidy East Riding category.

Coun Jefferson said: "The chairman's awards is just one way of celebrating and showcasing the excellent work of the unsung heroes in our community and I am delighted to have been able to present these awards."

The winners were presented with a glass trophy and the runners-up were presented with a certificate of distinction.
