EDUCATING people about the dangers of drugs is a roadshow coming to Goole this month.
The national 'Tackling Drugs, Changing Lives Week' takes place from May 19-23 and Safe Communities East Riding is supporting this by going on the road.
The event will give local residents the opportunity to talk to the organisations that work to t
ackle the problems caused by drug use to individuals, families and communities and find out more about drugs and drug treatments.
Fiona Conyers, drug action officer, said: "This is an important event for the community as everyone has a responsibility to educate themselves about the dangers of drug use.
"The roadshow will be especially useful to parents and people who work in health, social care, education and public services."
It will work along guidelines set by the new Government drug strategy - "Drugs: protecting families and communities".
This has five main aims: to reduce harm caused to young people by substance misuse; to reduce the number of families devastated by drug use; to reduce drug related crime and anti-social behaviour; to increase the number of drug users making a positive contribution to society; and to expand and improve drug treatment services.
The Goole roadshow will take place at the town's leisure centre, North Street, on Thursday May 22, 1-4pm, and will offer people the chance to find out how these aims will be achieved in the East Riding.
