FAMILIES enjoyed plenty of festive fun when hundreds of people flocked to see Goole's annual Christmas lights switch on.
The town has been illuminated following the Boothferry Road event, which saw 100 lights switched on to brighten Goole's streets over the next month.

There was fun for everyone as the crowds saw mayor John Frost, with a helping hand from MP Ian Cawsey, do the honours.

Stalls and shops remained open as people wandered the town centre streets, while carol singers provided plenty of festive entertainment at Friday's event.

Children from local groups and schools also displayed their vocal talents with performances of several favourite Christmas songs.

Entertainment for youngsters was provided by rides and even an appearance by the characters from Teletubbies!

And, despite the recession, Goole townsfolk showed their generosity by digging deep into their pockets to donate cash to a number of local charities.
