SHORTLISTED for prestigious awards, and up against the very best in the region, are two attractions in Goole and West Cowick.
The finalists in the fourth Remarkable East Yorkshire Tourism Awards (REYTAs) were announced this week and sees The Lowther Hotel and Park Lane Shooting School in for a top honour.
The REYTAs honour the brightest and best in this region’s tourism industry and celebrate the enormous achievements of businesses across Hull and East Yorkshire.
In the Remarkable Hotel Accommodation category is The Lowther Hotel in Aire Street, Goole, up against others including Beverley Tickton Grange and Hull Marina Holiday Inn.
Park Lane Shooting School in West Cowick is owned and run by husband and wife Tom and Sharon Bayston and sees them shortlisted in the Remarkable Visitor Attraction with competition from the likes of Hornsea Freeport and Ferens Art Gallery.
The 44 acre school offers shooting experiences and tuition for the novice and experienced clay and game shooter and has been developed alongside their existing farming business. Last year saw the launch of stunning new facilities including a new shooting lodge featuring a country wear shop, meeting facilities and a coffee shop/bistro. The new facilities have been a great success and Park Lodge has seen a 60 pe cent increase in bookings in the last 12 months.
Tom told the Courier: “We are absolutely delighted to have been shortlisted for this prestigious award and would like to say a big thank you to the team here and all our visitors for making our first year with our new facilities such a great success. ‘Visitor attraction’ is certainly a tough category to compete in as there are so many high quality venues out there so we are thrilled that we have made it through to the final selection. We are now looking forward to the ceremony and being part of this exciting event.”
Lowther owner Julie Duckworth said: “We are very excited at the news of being shortlisted for this award in the Remarkable Hotel category. On top of our recent success in ERYC’s Best Bar None Awards we are proud to champion Goole in its role within Yorkshire Tourism.
“With these awards together with our growing international business links and, of course, our industrial heritage, we have a lot to celebrate.”
The winners will be announced at a glittering awards ceremony at the Hull Mercure Grange Park Hotel in Willerby, on March 14.
