ENTERPRISING student Hannah Venable was the driving force behind a business initiative which has made lots of ‘dough’ for a local charity.
Hannah from Brayton, and a Sixth Form Student at Tadcaster Grammar School, hit upon the idea of selling doughnuts to fellow students to raise money for Martin House Children’s Hospice in Boston Spa.
She contacted Krispy Kreme Doughnuts on-line and ordered 50 dozen of the original glazed variety and then personally collected them from the Leeds store at 7am.
“They sold out quicker than we expected,” said Hannah, who managed to clear the decks of all 600 doughnuts and raise £400 in just 10 minutes. “I decided with other members of Dawson House at Tadcaster Grammar School that this would be a terrific idea, not only to raise the profile of our House, but to raise a substantial amount of money for a well-deserved local charity,” said Hannah.
“Hannah deserves a lot of credit for all the thought and hard work she has put into this,” said Head of Dawson House, Matt Smith. “She should be justifiably proud of her efforts.”
