PUB operator JD Wetherspoon is set to open its new pub in Selby next Tuesday, creating 50 jobs.
And we’ve teamed up with them for an exclusive offer for every Selby Times reader.
The company has spent £1.37 million re-developing the outlet on the site of a former furniture store, owned by the Everatt family, in Gowthorpe.
The Wetherspoon pub, which will be called The Giant Bellflower, will be managed by Gemma Butler. The pub name refers to Thomas Johnson, who was born in Selby in the early 17th century and was a leading herbalist of his day, recording many examples of the Giant Bellflower found on the banks of the River Ouse.
The new pub will be open from 8am until midnight Sunday to Thursday and 8am until 1am Friday and Saturday. Food will be served until 10pm every day. It is wheelchair accessible and has a specially-adapted toilet for people with disabilities on the ground floor. There is a disabled platform to access the upper level, where the bar is located and the beer garden, to the rear of the building.
The new-look pub will feature one bar, as well as a non-smoking beer garden, which has a large canopy with seating and lighting.
Manager Gemma Butler said: “Myself and my team are looking forward to welcoming customers into the pub and we are confident that it will be a great addition to Selby’s community.”
JD Wetherspoon are offering Selby Times readers a free filter coffee to mark the new opening.
Simply buy your copy of this week’s paper and cut out the coupon, taking it along to the new pub. Photocopies will not be accepted.
