SELBY and Ainsty MP Nigel Adams has welcomed the announcement from Government that the NHS is to receive a 2.3 per cent increase to its budget for the forthcoming year.

Mr Adams (pictured), who along with four other Conservative MP’s met with the Health Secretary last week to put the case for increased funding for North Yorkshire’s NHS has spoken in the House of Commons chamber on the issue and highlighted the problem with the historic NHS funding formula inherited from the previous Government.

He said: “I am pleased that the NHS Commissioning Board has been able to guarantee that the new clinical commissioning groups will receive a real terms increase in funding for the coming year and that the Board is to have a fundamental review of the historic funding formula which discriminates against rural areas like North Yorkshire.”
