A new state-of-the-art multi-million pound care home in Hook – which its owners hope will provide a template for other care facilities in the area – has opened after 18 months of campaigning and construction work.

The £4 million Westfield Park 54 bedroom residential home now includes a full beauty salon, in-house pub, residents’ shop, entertainment and activity rooms, rehabilitation gym, artificial bowls pitch and a large staff training room, after its latest development phase opened on Saturday.

The home’s owner Jonathan Garton said: “Work has finally finished and it’s great to see this open. The original Westfield Park will now be renovated into a specialist dementia home called Westfield Park Haven including reminiscence rooms, themed wings and rooms, a hairdressers, an activities lounge and sensory gardens.”

Town and district councillor for Goole North Ward, Keith Moore, who campaigned to retain the building as a care home added: “We campaigned for years to keep the care for the elderly at this site and the facilities of the new build have exceeded all of my expectations.”
