Having a ball

GENEROUS Selby fundraisers are being urged to again lodge their support for an annual event in York.

The Heart to Heart Valentine Benefit Ball is taking place at the National Railway Museum, Leeman Road, on February 9, 2013, 7.30pm-1.30am, and will feature the Bogus Brothers.

The event is in aid of the Save Our Surgery appeal - helping fight the decision to move children’s heart surgery out of Leeds General Infirmary, and out of Yorkshire altogether.

Organiser Myriam Barker told the Selby Times: “I organised the ball last year at the Royal York Hotel and the article you put in the Selby Times made a big difference in the sales.

“The people in Selby will have heard of the Bogus Brothers because Tony Williams, the main man, is from Selby, and the band’s fans always complain they don’t play enough locally.

“The second reason is your excellent support and coverage of the fight to keep the Children’s Heart Surgery Unit in Yorkshire, and helping Rebecca Storm (of Hemingbrough) raising awareness about the unit and the campaign.”

The black-tie event will start with a drinks reception - with entertainment from the unbelievable magician Ian Lea from Modern Conjuring - followed by a three-course meal and coffee served amidst luxurious carriages and historic locomotives set against the backdrop of a period station.

The amazing Rock Choir – as seen on ITV - will sing during the meal, followed by the talented pianist, Karl Mullen.

The main entertainers will be the Bogus Brothers.

There will also be a photographer – Paul Butler from Take it Photography, a disco, a raffle and a live auction - conducted by Stuart Andrew MP, who is a strong supporter in Parliament of the campaign to retain the Children’s Heart Surgery Unit in Leeds.

Tickets are £50, contact 07951187701 or heartball@hotmail.co.uk to book.

All the details about the event and also the campaign can be found on the website: www.saveoursurgery.net
