WHAT better way to spend Valentine’s Day than a ball to help supporters of the Willow’s Wish campaign reach their £60,000 target!
I Love Willow’s Wish Dance takes place at Selby Town Hall on February 14 from 8pm and aims to raise the final £10,000 to help eight-year-old Willow Emmison-Neal walk unaided.
Willow suffers with Cerebral Palsy and currently needs a frame to help her walk but an operation in Missouri in the United States on March 1 could make a huge difference to her quality of life.
Her mum Sally, of Skipwith, is calling on as many people as possible to come along to the dance for the final big push to cover the costs of the operation and six-week stay in the US.
She said: “It’s going to be a fantastic night. It’s a really different way to spend Valentine’s Day and the covers band we have playing completely filled the dancefloor at our last event.”
The two-hour operation is booked in for March 1 and Sally, Willow’s dad Matthew and four-year-old sister Olive will be heading out to the States to support Willow.
Sally added: “We are glad that the time for the operation has finally arrived but it does come with its own anxieties. We’re looking forward to Willow feeling the benefits.”
Anyone who can help Willow’s Wish can contact Sally through the www.willowswish.org website. Tickets to the dance, including a sparkling wine reception, supper and music from Tom Rocks and the Replicants, cost £15 and are on sale at Selby’s Specsavers in Gowthorpe.
