Sexual health services are young people friendly
SEXUAL health services at Northern Lincolnshire and Goole Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust have been declared ‘young people friendly’.
The contraception, advice and sexual health (CASH) service has received a ‘You’re Welcome’ certificate from the Department of Health, which is awarded to Trusts that demonstrate a commitment to improving the suitability of services for young people.
Staff had to carry out a self-assessment for the service against 10 standards including accessibility, confidentiality and consent, staff training/attitude/values and involvement of young people in feedback, monitoring and evaluation.
The quality standards are designed to improve patient experience and health outcomes for young people.
Karen Elliot, manager of CASH services at the Trust, said: “We are committed to ensuring our services are suitable for young people and being awarded this certificate recognises the work we have done around this. It is vital that young people feel able to access sexual health services without fear of being judged. We are proud of our staff, who our friendly and approachable and provide an excellent service to young people in our area.”
