Library doors are re-opened

GOOLE Library has re-opened its doors to the public following seven weeks of refurbishment work.

The changes include the installation of self-service facilities and the relocation of the local studies collection from the first floor to the ground floor, to provide better access.

A spokesman for East Riding Council said: “The work is part of a strategy for East Riding of Yorkshire libraries which aims to deliver a high-quality, customer-focused service to meet the needs of the community.”

Goole Library is open: Monday 9.30am – 7pm; Tuesday 9.30am – 5pm; Wednesday 9.30am – 7pm; Thursday 9.30am – 5pm; Friday 9.30am – 5pm; Saturday 9am – 4pm.

n Fun – hopefully in the sun – is being offered in Goole when the second annual Beach Day is staged in the town on Saturday.

Held in the pedestrian area from 10am, there will be donkey rides, sand, water play and entertainments galore for children and adults alike.

Alongside the games and competitions, there will also, like last year, be a sound stage with performances from Lucy Williams and Rich Cowling, Beth Hubbard, Down to Earth, Castaway and Punctured Bicycle.

Life on the ocean wave, meanwhile, is up for grabs with the star prize in the Beach Day raffle being a P & O mini-cruise for two.

Dancing the day away will be Butterfly Dance and East Riding Youth Dance, members of which are to give demonstrations and there’ll be Zumba and body combat on offer too.

Steadier-paced entertainment is provided with a slow bicycle challenge – so take your wheels along with you!
