Aiming to be top of the shops
A FISH and chip shop takeaway and restaurant in Selby is aiming to be top of the shops after being shortlisted in the race to find the best chippy in North East England.
Five fish and chip shops are in line to be crowned regional Independent Takeaway of the Year at the 25th National Fish and Chip Awards 2013, organised by Seafish, the authority on seafood.
Mr C’s in Millgate is one of five shortlisted shops which will now compete against 45 others across the UK in the hotly-contested race to bag the ultimate title, culminating in a glitzy evening awards ceremony at The Lancaster Hotel in London on January 24.
The shortlisted shops are: Quayside of Whitby, Trenchers of Whitby, Mister C’s of Selby, Whiteheads Fish and Chips of Hornsea and Graveley’s of Leeds. The fish and chip businesses will have to up the ante if they are to secure the coveted title, as they are put to the test in a round of secret mystery judging by the Seafish panel, over the next few months.
The judges will scour the country to secretly rate the shops in a number of factors, from food quality to customer service. In October, Seafish will announce one winner from the shortlisted top five in the prestigious competition.
