SPORTS stars impressed pupils at the Dearne ALC, when they delivered special coaching sessions with inspirational chat!

Current world champion extreme inline skater Jenna Downing joined the rugby Captain of the Sheffield Eagles Challenge Cup side Paul Broadbent at Goldthorpe, as part of the Sky Sports Living For Sport project.

A Dearne ALC spokeswoman said: “We had a very interesting day. The aim of the visit was to encourage students who will work on leadership skills over the next term, and then use their skills to deliver after school clubs for students in years seven and eight”.

Jenna, 21, is a 10-times British champion who competed in rollerblading events at eight, and turned professional at 12!

She said: “Throughout my sports journey I have learned some worthy lessons as I’ve battled my way to get to the top.

Now, as a role model, I want to share my personal stories in the hope that I can influence other peoples’ lives, because that for me is the greatest achievement.”

Jenna is passionate about supporting young people and is involved in a whole range of projects, including the Sky Sports one.

Paul “Beans” Broadbent is an English former rugby league footballer of the 1990s and 2000s, and a coach, who at representative level has played for Great Britain, and England, and at club level for Sheffield Eagles, Halifax, Hull, Wakefield Trinity Wildcats, and York City Knights.

In the 1997 post season, Broadbent was selected to play for Britain at prop forward in all three matches of the Super League Test series against Australia.

Both sports stars gave demonstrations and talked about motivation, before answering questions.
