Alleged theft from PTA fund
A WOMAN who was alleged to have stolen cash belonging to the friends of Selby Abbey School is claiming that she had always intended paying the money back.
Charlotte Louise Frary, 33, of Charles Street, Selby, appeared before Selby magistrates last Thursday on a charge of stealing £520 from the primary school Parent Teacher Association fund between July 21 and August 27, this year.
The accused was also charged with failing to surrender to the Magistrates’ court at an earlier hearing in answer to the theft charge.
Frary, who has not entered pleas to the charges, was said by the court Thursday to be suffering from serious problems and that medical records are being sought.
The court also heard that Frary, who is said to have been under pressure of personal and domestic problems, was claiming that she had intended refunding the money.
She was said just not to have got round to paying it back.
The court was told that on a previous occasion Frary had been too distressed to appear in court.
Agreeing to the cases being adjourned for the medical records to be obtained, Mrs Sandra White, prosecuting, said that the Crown prosecution Service had agreed to review the evidence.
Frary was granted unconditional bail to appear back before the magistrates on January 31.
