Ambulance crash driver injured
A DRIVER had to be taken to hospital with injuries after an ambulance rapid response vehicle was involved in a collision near Sherburn while it was out attending to a 999 emergency call.
The collision was reported at about 9.50am last Monday, at the junction of the B1222 and New Lennerton Lane in Sherburn. The accident also involved a Skoda Octavia.
Yorkshire Ambulance Service confirmed that a 39-year-old driver who worked for them was not hurt in the collision, but the 25-year-old male driver of the Skoda suffered a cut to his head and was taken to hospital as a precaution. An 18-year-old male passenger who was also in the Skoda was not injured.
An ambulance service spokeswoman confirmed that another rapid response ambulance was sent on the 999 emergency call in place of the crashed vehicle.
POLICE are still seeking witnesses following a disturbance involving a gang of men in Sherburn earlier this month.
A fight broke out in Moor Lane at about 12.30am when a group of men in their 20s were said by a member of the public to be “squaring up to one another”.
IN another incident police are asking householders to be on high alert after a home was burgled in Springfield Road.
The incident happened between 10.30pm on February 14 and 10.15am on February 15. Police say hapless would-be burglars fled the scene empty handed.
They tried to force their way into the house through an attached integral garage, but were unable to get inside.
Anyone who has any information on the attempted burglary call 101 quoting 12130025093 or on the fight 12130022633.
