NINETY youngsters from Selby and Goole schools were in the frame for top awards when they took part in an art competition staged by Drax Power.
They had chance to show their artistic flair in a temporary gallery space created in the Drax Sports and Social Club for just one day.
The young artists aged five to 18 were celebrated in the first week in December with 12 awards in the Drax Art In The Community competition, now in its fifth year. Prizes of art supplies and school donations totalling £3,500 were presented by Drax chief executive Dorothy Thompson.
Winners were chosen by a panel of six judges including renowned York-based landscape artist Malcolm Ludvigsen, who has exhibited across the UK and in America; Martin Walker, head of art at Barlby Secondary School; and Snaith Primary School head teacher Linda Scarll.
Malcolm Ludvigsen also hosted a demonstration of oil painting while other master classes included giant-sized cartoons and CGI techniques.
A simulated TV studio was also created to capture sound bites from children which are planned for a website next year promoting the Drax art initiative.
