BAE merger - will jobs be safe?

AEROSPACE and security manufacturer BAE has voiced optimism about preserving jobs at Brough, where it employs around 900 people, as it considers a merger with the giant European Aeronautic Defence and Space Company.

The company has said that the proposed union will open up new markets and new opportunities for its products.

However, Haltemprice and Howden MP David Davis has warned that the move could have the opposite effect and lead to job losses.
