YOUNGSTERS at Hensall Community Primary School have been busy honing their athletic skills.
Pupils took their training for an athletics tournament at Brayton School for the Selby cluster seriously, but had great fun trying out new equipment..
Selby sports co-ordinator for North Yorkshire County Council James Chapman called by to hold athletics workshops at the school, and met with a great response from year five and year six kids.
Headteacher Heather Conroy said: “The children loved taking part in such sports as hurdling, the javelin and sprinting. They were really enthusiastic about it and are looking forward to the tournament on November 29.”
She added: “The Olympics have inspired all of us to do more sport, with the emphasis particularly on participation and sportsmanship.”

Also in school kind-hearted pupils have been collecting second hand, good quality, shoes, clothes, hats and other items for their Bag2School initiative. These items are given to the Bag2School team who then give cash for school funds and recycle the collected items.
