A FLEDGLING businesswoman is encouraging more young entrepreneurs to take advantage of a new business scheme she hopes will enhance Selby as a vibrant and thriving shopping centre.

Sarah Wood BA, of Fostergate in Selby, is part of a business newtwork scheme, which aims to help new businesses thrive and survive, and business mentor Heidi Green is giving a helping hand.

The 30-year-old art degree trained graduate Sarah, said her eight-week old florist business – Sarah Elizabeth Flowers – she runs from home, was coming on in leaps and bounds thanks to Heidi and help from Jobseekers, who helped her set up her new venture with a New Enterprise allowance.

The fully qualified florist said: “With Heidi’s help I have just put together a business plan. This scheme has been invaluable to me and I encourage others to take advantage of it. It has shown me how to do market research, advertising, how to build contacts through network meetings and much more.

“It has taken a lot of the guesswork out of how to build a business. There’s lots of advice out there. I urge people to find out more and help build up Selby.”
