Cannabis find leads to a fine
A MAN from Sherburn was fined £230 after admitting two charges of possessing cannabis.
Selby Magistrates Court heard that cannabis leaves were found in a cupboard at the Springfield Road home of Andrew Williamson on August 20. The drug was valued at between £26.70 and £33.37, said Sandra White, prosecuting.
She added that the weight of the find was 18.7 grams.
A small amount of cannabis was also discovered in a wardrobe in his bedroom at a house on Byram Park Road, Byram, on July 18.
Richard Minion, mitigating, said the charges were Williamson’s first drugs offences. He told the court that the 23-year-old normally worked as a builder but had not been able to find work since moving to the area from Grimsby last Christmas.
