Car thieves police alert

SAFER Neighbourhood Police teams have issued a call for information following a series of thefts all over Selby from unattended vehicles overnight on Thursday, November 22.

One of the vehicles targeted was a transit van parked outside a house in Abbots Road. Two members of the public were passing the offenders as they broke into the vehicle.

Police are asking for the two people to contact them immediately with any information, as the thieves carrying out the other car crimes could be linked to the other vehicle offences.

A police spokesman said: “It is important for these two people to contact the police immediately to prevent this type of crime happening again. We are keen to trace the offenders.”

Anyone who has any information that could lead to the arrest of the thieves is asked to call emergency police number 101 and ask for PC 1113 Dean Turner. Their call will be treated in confidence.
