Community group on the right path

A LOCAL community group has re-laid a popular path to make it more user friendly.

The members of the Gilberdyke and District Leisure Association completed resurfacing the Ings View Sports Field path last week, after being rained off several times.

A spokesman said the previously delapidated route had become popular and was used by walkers and young families.

"By pulling together, volunteers from the local community have greatly enhanced the approach to the first-class recreational facilities based at Ings View Sports Field.

"These have been provided and maintained by dedicated, hard working individuals for the enjoyment of the residents of Gilberdyke and the surrounding areas.

"To all, past and present, who have given so freely of their time, energy and expertise thank you."

The funding for the project, titled Safetrack was provided by Action With Communities In Rural England and Defra's Aggregates Levy Sustainability Fund from the Humber and Wolds Rural Community Council.

The group will now move onto other community projects to improve the area, with a new junior soccer pitch and upgraded car park on the agenda.

Anyone interested in volunteering for the group should call 01430 441449.
