Court charges
A 65-YEAR-OLD Sherburn man has appeared before a court charged with harassing his neighbours over several months.
Roy Astin, of Cardinal Close, appeared before Selby magistrates on two charges of harassment.
However, Sandra White, prosecuting, said that the charges, which allege a course of behaviour including driving a vehicle towards one neighbour and the setting up of a CCTV camera to film others in their home, needed further investigation.
Adding that more defined charges may follow after four sets of CCTV recordings were examined, Mrs White asked the magistrates to adjourn the hearing to allow this examination to take place.
Astin is alleged to have set up the camera on his car outside the Cardinal Close home of Veronica, Jim and Giles Jenkins on October 20, this year.
He is also alleged to have between March and November, this year, at Cardinal Close and Wolsey Croft harassed Alison and Grant Bavidge by starring, waving and being confrontational towards members of the family.
The charge also alleges that on November 22 Astin drove his car at Grant Bavidge, causing him alarm and harassment.
Keith Haggerty, defending, did not object to the prosecution application and the case was adjourned until January 10.
Astin was admitted to conditional bail to have no contact with his neighbours.
