GOOLE’S Hot Spots project is quids in after the East Riding’s High Sheriff Julie Good presented it with a cheque for £3,000 on Thursday during a Twilight Football session for young people at Goole Leisure Centre,
The cash will be used to help fund activities such as sport, play and arts for young people in areas of the East Riding identified as possible hot spots for crime and anti-social behaviour.
Geoff Ogden, director of the Tribune Trust, said: “All five projects reflect diverse but topical issues which through volunteers make a real difference in communities as all aspects of crime are tackled.”
Councillor Richard Burton, cabinet portfolio holder for civic wellbeing and culture, said: “This is a valuable award to the community based initiative. A lot of good work is done to help youngsters get into the arts and find skills that will help them throughout their lives and help them find a career. The skills that they will learn will help them through all aspects in their lives.”
