THOSE wishing to help contribute to this year’s Selby Times Christmas Toy Appeal will have to move fast with the deadline just around the corner.
If you would like to donate gifts towards some of the most deprived children in our area, then you have until 5pm on Monday, December 17 to do so.
The appeal, which was re-launched last month in this newspaper, has seen a steady stream of toys, books and games donated to our offices.
The scheme is jointly-run by Selby District Lions and the Salvation Army and once again the groups are hoping for the generosity of the Selby public to shine through.
David Jones, of the Lions, recently stated that he hoped the difficult financial climate would not hamper the amount of donations received this year.
Speaking shortly after the launch, he said: “Despite the recession, we saw a good number of presents being donated last year, and that includes both the quantity and quality of toys. Despite the tough times financially this year, hopefully we’ll see a similar story and people will donate just as generously.”
Presents should be handed into the Selby Times office, 74-76 Gowthorpe in town, by no later than 5pm on the closing date.
Gifts are asked to be in either new or very good condition before being donated.
