Former MP takes up new job
FORMER local MP Ian Cawsey has taken up a new appointment to lead on political and parliamentary affairs for WSPA (World Society for the Protection of Animals).
WSPA is the world's largest animal welfare network and co-ordinates the work of over 900 animal welfare organisations in over 150 countries, including the UK.
Ian said: "I am delighted to be able to work with WSPA on the excellent work that I know they undertake.
"Given the nature of the issues WSPA deals with it is important that we have support from Governments and from Parliamentarians and I hope that I will be able to ensure this is the case.
"We are already building a campaign here in the UK to highlight the animal welfare consequences of dairy factories.
"I think lots of people know that animal welfare is extremely important to me and obviously I have a keen interest in politics so this draws them both together and I'm really looking forward to helping WSPA with their work."
WSPA Chief Exec, Mike Baker said: "Ian has a huge reputation for his knowledge and work on animal welfare and was one of the best Members of Parliament on the subject."
