Friendly place for pupils
A VILLAGE primary school has been praised for its friendly and happy environment.
Swinefleet Primary School, which is based on Low Street, recently underwent a government Ofsted inspection - the first in the Goole cluster under new criteria.
Since September 2009, inspectors have been looking closely at safeguarding children for which the school was awarded a 'good' grade.
The report stated that the school is 'a happy, friendly place where pupils are safe and well cared for'.
And they added: "The school ensures the safety and well being of pupils.
"Pupils are confident that they can go to staff if problems arise, seeing school as one big family."
Headteacher, Mrs Jill Marshall, said this week: "This is really what our school is about.
"The inspectors commented on how well behaved the children were and how pupils enjoy learning, and try hard with their work."
The lead inspector Mrs Rajinder Harrison, wrote in her report that: "The headteacher, staff and governors work hard to promote good relations with parents, the local community, other schools and agencies to ensure the school is well placed to move forward."
Mrs Marshall added: "Although there are obviously some areas we need to improve, there are lots of positives for the staff and pupils to feel proud of."
