MORE than £1,000 was raised for churches at Whitley and Kellington when the parish held a fund-raising fair on Saturday.

All Saints’ in Whitley and St Edmund’s in Kellington were the beneficiaries of the annual event and there were lots of stalls helping to raise cash.

Parochial Parish Council member Jenny Horsey, who helped to organise the event, said stalls included craft, bric-a-brac, handicrafts, plants, books and much more.

She added: “There must have been more than 200 people attending throughout the day. There were books for sale, toys, a tombola and refreshments.

“Everyone seemed to enjoy the day and I’d like to thank all those who contributed and those who visited for making this a huge success.

“This is all for the upkeep of the two churches. At the Kellington church we are hoping to put in toilets and at Whitley we are aiming to tidy the outside of the church.

“Around about December 8/9 we will hold our Christmas tree festival to raise further funds.”
